Training for Water Restoration Technician (Fairbanks) Pay: $15-$23/hr DOE plus On-Call Pay Employment type: full-time/part-time
Water Restoration Technicians are responsible for assisting the production department with completion of Water Mitigation projects in a professional and timely manner. Water mitigation Technicians will be "cross trained" to the Carpet Cleaning, Contents and Mold departments.
Experience is not necessary, we will provide full training to individual with good customer service skills and appearance with desire for long term employment. This position has the possibility to lead to supervisory position for the right person.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS -Extract water from flooded structures using commercial extraction equipment -Other duties will include carpet cleaning, content cleaning, mold mitigation and fire cleanup and restoration. -Perform job site production to include water extraction, demolition, use of hand tools, power tools, general cleanup, equipment maintenance, facility maintenance, moving of goods and supplies through warehouse production process, etc. -Assist in determining the most effective way to dry the affected materials. -Conduct demolition after fire, water/flood, mold or storm damages. -Remove carpets, carpet pads, drywall and insulation. -Submit samples of removed materials to ITEL, as required by the insurance company. -Haul debris from job site to truck as well as moving customer contents away from work area as needed. -Monitor moisture levels on the job site and enter data into Moisture Mapper. -Set, move and monitor de-humidifiers, air movers, air scrubbers and other equipment to job site. -Set up negative air in affected work areas for containment. -Efficiently and effectively installing containment. -Handle water extraction and removal of water damaged materials. -Communicate a positive image of the company to the entire staff and customers. -Implement the company vision and mission and achieve goals. -Apply all safety rules and regulations and prevent work hazards. -Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Employees will be working with cleaning, deodorization and antimicrobial products on a daily basis. Gloves, respirators and splash goggles will be used every day while working on water loss. Climbing ladders and work in high places. The work spaces can contain residue, mold, mildew, contaminated water or unsanitary conditions. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects, up to 75 pounds, necessary to perform job functions.
WORKING CONDITIONS Due to the nature of the work, often the job sites will be dirty, possibly cold or wet and sometimes unsanitary. Employees are required to wear protective gear as needed. The work is sometimes strenuous. Technicians must carefully follow safety precautions because working in damaged buildings leaves them vulnerable. Also, disaster areas often lack resources and comfortable areas in which to rest. Employees may interact with upset customers and must be sensitive to their emotional situation due to the nature of their damage to their property.
Pay begins @ $14/hr during training and increases to $15/hr and may work up to $23/hr plus incentive bonuses after experience and demonstration on dependability and workmanship.
Requires be "on-call" in rotation with other technicians for after business hours emergency response. Hours may vary, mostly days M-F but some evenings and weekends required.
